Search Criteria

Analyze all files discovered

Searches all links discovered, no matter where the files those links refer to are located. This is the broadest of the search options.

Analyze files within specified domain

Searches only those links that are within the domain you have specified. For example, if you entered http://www.microsoft.com/default.asp as the Web address to discover, only the files on servers in the domain www.microsoft.com are searched during discovery.

If you have also selected Include links to files outside of search criteria, any links outside the search criteria are included but are not searched for additional links.

Analyze files within specified directory

Searches only those files located within the folder you have specified. For example, if you entered http://www.microsoft.com/office/visio/default.asp as the Web address to discover, only files located in the visio directory (or any of its subdirectories) are searched during discovery. All links that begin with www.microsoft.com/office/visio/ are searched.

Include links to files outside of search criteria

Includes links to files outside of the search criteria you selected above. The Web Site Map template includes any links to files outside the search criteria, but it does not search those files for additional links.

For example if you select Analyze files within specified domain, and enter http://www.microsoft.com/default.asp as the Web address to discover, the discovery includes a link to a file outside www.microsoft.com, but does not search that file for additional links.

Display duplicate links as expandable

Displays duplicate links as expandable shapes. If you select this option, you can right-click a duplicate shape and click Expand to display the links from the shape.

Duplicate links are links to the same location from more than one place on a Web page. For example, a Web page may contain a link to a site's home page from two or more areas on the page. In a Web site map, duplicate links appear greyed out.

Discover links within VBScript and JavaScript

Tries to discover links within HTML-embedded scripts. (Scripts are usually hidden within comment tags in HTML to avoid confusing older browsers that do not support scripts.)

Note: Use this option with caution, because searching scripts may cause instability during Web site discovery.

Consolidation

Consolidate non-expandable links

Consolidates non-expandable links into a single shape. Non-expandable links are links to files that do not normally contain links (such as graphic files) .

Ignore fragment identifiers (e.g. #xyz)

Consolidates links with fragment identifiers into a single shape. Links with fragment identifiers have a "#" after the address (such as abc.htm#xyz).

Ignore query components (e.g. ?xyz=1)

Consolidates links with query components into a single shape. Links with query components have a "?" after the address (such as abc.htm?xyz=1). Query components are typically used with server-side scripts.

Internet Properties

Internet Properties

Opens the Internet Options dialog box for Internet Explorer, which you can use to edit the content or security filters for the Web discovery. (The Web Site Map template uses Internet Explorer components to perform Web discoveries.)

HTTP authentication

Name

Enter a name for any HTTP authentication required at the Web site you want to discover. This only applies to HTTP authentication; it does not apply to any network-level security that must be accessed. This information is not saved when you exit Microsoft Office Visio.

Password

Enter a password for any HTTP authentication required at the Web site you want to discover. This only applies to HTTP authentication; it does not apply to any network-level security that must be accessed. This information is not saved when you exit Visio.
