Symptoms

You install any of the following updates that are dated June 13, 2017:

After you install the update, you experience the following problem in Internet Explorer versions 9 through 11:

  • When you try to print an iFrame or frame in Internet Explorer versions 9 through 11, a blank page or "404 – Not Found" error message is printed instead of the actual content.

This problem occurs on computers that are running any of the following operating systems:

  • Windows Server 2012 R2

  • Windows 8.1

  • Windows Server 2012

  • Windows Server 2008 R2

  • Windows 7

  • Windows Server 2008 SP2

Workaround

Warning This workaround may make your computer or your network more vulnerable to attack by malicious users or by malicious software such as viruses. Microsoft does not recommend this workaround but is providing this information so that you can choose to implement this workaround at your own discretion. Use this workaround at your own risk.

To work around this problem, install update 4032782 from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

Notes

  • Install this update only if you experience the problem that is described in the "Symptoms" section.

  • We do not recommend that you uninstall any security update.

  • We recommend that you install the applicable cumulative update and then install 4032782 if you require the workaround.

  • If you have already uninstalled the cumulative update, we recommend that you install it again, and then install 4032782 if you require the workaround.

You may have to restart the computer after you apply this update.

Update Replacement Information

This updates doesn't replace a previously released update.

Additional Information

 Note that KB4032782 is provided as an alternative for impacted customers who must print from IE that is safer than uninstalling the June 2017 security rollup. This alternative method removes only a single security update from the June release that is causing the printing issue, while keeping all the rest of the June security protections in place.

Customers who install KB4032782 to restore printing functionality will be vulnerable to CVE-2017-8529, but can be protected from all the other vulnerabilities resolved in the June security rollup. This article will be updated when new information is available.

Known Issues in update 4032782

After you install this update, Internet Explorer 11 may close unexpectedly when you visit some websites. When the problem occurs, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:

We were unable to return you to [previous URL] Internet Explorer has stopped trying to restore this website. It appears the website continues to have a problem.

The problem may occur if the website is complex and uses certain web API's.

This issue is resolved in Cumulative security update for Internet Explorer: July 11, 2017 (KB4025252).
