When you click a file link in the Content Query Web Part on a SharePoint Server 2010 site, Windows Internet Explorer crashes.

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

Prerequisites
Before you apply the hotfix package that is described in this article, you should apply the hotfix package that is described in Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article 2596998. Additionally, you should clear the cache in Windows Internet Explorer.
