Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You use Microsoft System Center Operations Manager to monitor BizTalk applications on a computer that is running Microsoft BizTalk Server.

  • The computer runs for several minutes.


In this scenario, applications that are running on the computer might stop responding or crash. Additionally, an event that resembles the following might be logged in the System log:Note When this issue occurs, the resource information in Windows Task Manager indicates that a Service Host process (Svchost.exe) consumes a large amount of memory.

Cause

This issue occurs because deadlocks occur.

When BizTalk threads run BizTalk Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) queries, the threads do not release some resources. Therefore, the issue that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section occurs.

Resolution
