Symptoms
You're running an application that's using the Managed Provider for DB2 that's included in Microsoft Host Integration Server 2013 or the stand-alone Data Provider for DB2, version 5. (The stand-alone provider is included in the SQL Server feature pack.) This application selects a column that's defined as an XML data type. However, the data type that's returned for this column is BLOB (binary large object).
Cause
This issue occurs because the Managed Provider for DB2 incorrectly interprets an XML column as a BLOB.
