INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to grant the View Server State permission in Microsoft Forecaster when you are using Microsoft SQL Server 2005.

More Information

All administrator-level users must have the View Server State permission before you create new periods or before you validate databases in Microsoft Forecaster. This is true so that Microsoft Forecaster can determine whether other users are logged on to Microsoft Forecaster. Additionally, any user who has to access the Current Users List command on the View menu must have the View Server State permission.

To grant the View Server State permission, follow these steps:

  1. Start SQL Server Management Studio.

  2. Expand Databases, right-click the Microsoft Forecaster database, and then click Properties.

  3. Click Permissions, and then click View server permissions.

  4. In the Logins or Roles list, click the user to whom you want to grant the permission.

  5. In the Explicit permissions for user list, click to select the Grant check box next to View server state permission.

  6. Repeat step 4 through step 5 for each user to whom you want to grant the permission.
