This article describes update 5002231 for Microsoft SharePoint Enterprise Server 2016 that was released on July 12, 2022.

Improvements and fixes

This update fixes an issue in which you might receive the "Type was not resolvable" error message when you use a sandbox solution or web part. This issue occurs because the SharePoint sandbox service further restricts the types and assemblies that it allows to be run by default starting in the May 2022 security update. Starting in the July 2022 security update for SharePoint Enterprise Server 2016, you could register third-party types or assemblies that the SharePoint sandbox service will allow to be run. For more information, and to learn how to resolve this error, see "Type was not resolvable" error when you use sandbox solution or web part (KB5015556).
