Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2012 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2012 fix release.

Symptoms

When you receive notice of an alert error in an email message from SQL Server Performance Condition in Microsoft SQL Server 2012, the message resembles the following:

The SQL Server performance counter 's' (instance 's') of object 's' is now above the threshold of s (the current value is s).

This alert error message should actually resemble this:

The SQL Server performance counter 'Data File(s) Size (KB)' (instance 'ReportServer') of object 'MSSQL$SQL2K8R2:Databases' is now above the threshold of 1024.00 (the current value is 4352.00).

Cause

This issue occurs because of incorrect output formatting. The alert uses the LoadFormattedMessage function that, in turn, invokes the FormatMessage function to format output information. Specifically, the following template string is used:

The SQL Server performance counter '%s' (instance '%s') of object '%s' is now above the threshold of %s (the current value is %s).This generates the incorrect output after formatting.
