The SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR function doesn't work in Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) queries in SQL Server 2016 Analysis Services.Note This function works in Multidimensional Expressions (MDX) queries in SQL Server 2016 Analysis Services.

Resolution

This update is included in Cumulative Update 1 for SQL Server 2016 Service Pack 1.

Each new build for SQL Server 2016 contains all the hotfixes and security fixes that were included in the previous build. We recommend that you install the latest build for SQL Server 2016.
