Summary
This article describes an update for Windows Embedded Compact 2013. This update addresses the following issues in the CE Platform Abstraction Layer (CEPAL):

Addresses an issue that causes the battery API to always report battery information as not available.

Addresses an issue that causes customer apps and icon display to fail because of incorrect calculations of the available virtual memory.

Addresses a linker error issue when you use an image configuration that has the Windows Filtering Platform (WFP) disabled and does not use the Graphics, Windowing, and Events Subsystem (GWES) module.

Addresses an issue in which the system time cannot be set as expected from a customer's app.

Addresses an issue in which a Client app which uses Winsock will eventually stop receiving data on a TCP socket from a server.

Addresses an issue in which a crash occurs when you run Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC) or Active Template Library (ATL) based apps.

Addresses an issue when an app is coded for specific error messages and the app only returns STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL (0xc0000001) when it tries to connect a socket to a remote server.
Before you install this update, all previously issued updates for this product must be installed.

Restart requirement
After you apply this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To do this, use one of the following methods:

On the Build menu, click Clean Solution, and then click Build Solution.

On the Build menu, click Rebuild Solution.
You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this software update.
