Parent Connection sunset FAQ

The Parent Connection app in Teams for Education, which allows educators to connect with parents and guardians of the students in their class teams using Teams for Education is being retired and will no longer be available after 30th of September 2025. 

We constantly evaluate the state of our product portfolio and determine whether we have the right allocation of resources across our products and services to ensure we are serving our customers and supporting the Microsoft business. This decision provides Microsoft with the opportunity to focus our efforts on other Microsoft Education products and services that we believe will meet our customer needs. 

Chats and announcements initiated by an educator through the Parent Connection app before 30th Sep, 2025 will remain accessible to the educator within the Chat app in Microsoft Teams for Education. The educator can continue the conversation with parents/guardians of a student in the respective chat threads.  

Any meetings scheduled by an educator through the Parent Connection app will continue to appear in the Calendar app within Microsoft Teams for Education.

Parent contact information submitted by an educator for admin approval and approved by an admin through the Approvals app prior to 30th September 2025 will continue to be saved as a parent/guardian contact for the respective students, as the same maybe used for weekly email digest. Admins will always have the ability to delete the same. Approvals made by an admin on or after 30th September 2025 will not be saved as parent/guardian contacts.

No, the Parent App is not related to the Family Safety App and this announcement has no impact on the family safety app.
