Welcome to the Reading Coach school preview.

Consistent practice is critical for driving positive learning outcomes for students and closing learning gaps and since its release, Reading Coach has been well received by students, parents and educators.

As we continue to add additional features, we appreciate your partnership, and we look forward to your feedback.

Later this year, Reading Coach will be supported in leading Learning Management Systems which will allow educators to have better controls and monitoring around their students' practice in the app.

Getting started

1. To deploy the school preview, your tenant will need to be using Microsoft Entra ID as its identity solution. If your tenant has set up federated authentication with another identity provider alongside Microsoft Entra ID, this is supported. If you have set the "Age group" field for any of your students to "Minor," you will need to make sure that the "Consent provided for minor" field in their user profile is set to "Granted" or "Not required." This can be checked or updated through School Data Sync, PowerShell, Graph API or manually through the Microsoft Entra Admin Center. For more information, visit this documentation.

2. Next, you will need to run this PowerShell script.

Notes:

  • The user that runs this PowerShell script for your tenant will need to have Global administrator permissions and your tenant will need to be an EDU tenant on a public cloud.

  • The script will need to be run in an administrator PowerShell session and you will need to have the latest version of PowerShell installed (5.1.22621.2506 or above) before running the script. For more information, visit this documentation

  • Before running the script, you may need to set the execution policy by running the following command Set-ExecutionPolicy -ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned

3. Once this script has been run, you can now invite students to either use Reading Coach through their preferred browser or they can download the Reading Coach Windows app onto their device from the Window Store.

Note: The Windows app can also be deployed to student devices using Intune. For more information, visit Add Microsoft Store apps to Microsoft Intune | Microsoft Learn.

If at any point you need help, you can post on the Reading Coach school preview Teams community to get support. Note that it could take up to a week to get added to the team after signing up.

If at any point you would like to opt out, you can run this script and follow the corresponding prompts.
