Symptoms
In Windows Vista, when you view the properties of a WordPad document that was created in Windows XP, some properties may not appear.This problem occurs if the document was created by right-clicking the desktop, pointing to New, and then clicking WordPad Document. When you do this is Windows XP, the WordPad document uses the .doc file name extension.
