Surface 3 experiences ghost touch in Excel

Symptoms

When you work on an Excel spreadsheet on a Surface 3 device that's running Windows 8.1 or Windows 10, you may encounter the following issues:

• Ghost pen touches

• Cursor may move around the screen unexpectedly

Cause

This issue occurs because of a touch firmware issue.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that's described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
