Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You configure the "Allow with URL" feature in a client policy setting by using Microsoft Lync Server 2013 Control Panel or Windows PowerShell Cmdlets.

  • One or multiple users who are assigned to the policy sign in to a Microsoft Skype for Business client that is earlier than the referenced version that you set.

In this scenario, the users do not receive a message that provides a URL to download and install a newer version of Skype for Business client.

Cause

This issue occurs because the version of Skype for Business the users use does not comply with the client policy information for the "Allow with URL" feature.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the May 12, 2015, security update for Skype for Business.

Note Microsoft Lync 2013 was upgraded to Skype for Business in April 2015.
