Symptoms

When you try to restore database from previous versions to SQL Server 2019 or 2017 on Linux on Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) device partitioned in 4K block size, the restore command may fail with the following error message.

Msg 3203, Level 16, State 1, Line LineNumber

Read on "FilePath\FileName" failed: LineNumber(The parameter is incorrect.)

Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line LineNumber

RESTORE DATABASE is terminating abnormally.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
