Windows Secure Boot certificate expiration

This security update contains fixes and quality improvements from KB5075899 (released February 10, 2026). The following summary outlines key issues addressed by this update. Also, included are available new features. The bold text within the brackets indicates the item or area of the change. ​​​​

[Secure Boot] ​​​​​​​With this update, Windows quality updates include additional high confidence device targeting data, increasing coverage of devices eligible to automatically receive new Secure Boot certificates. This targeting is based primarily on client device diagnostic data; due to limited data, servers are unlikely to qualify, though not explicitly excluded. Devices receive new certificates only after demonstrating sufficient successful update signals, maintaining a controlled and phased rollout.

[System services and reliability] Improved: Windows Server 2025 now supports newer server platforms that expose more hardware error reporting features, including systems with up to 64 Machine Check Architecture (MCA) banks. This update ensures Windows parses and configures all supported error sources, so hardware errors are reported and handled as expected on modern servers such as newer AMD EPYC‑based systems.

Known issues in this update
After installing KB5070881Â or later updates, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) does not display synchronization error details within its error reporting. This functionality is temporarily removed to address the Remote Code Execution Vulnerability, CVE-2025-59287.Â

To install this release from the Microsoft Update Catalog, follow these instructions:​​​​​​​Before you install this update, the standalone package(s) for this update is available from the Microsoft Update Catalog website. This KB contains one or more MSU files that require installation in a specific order. You can install this update using Method 1 (install all MSU files together) or Method 2 (install each MSU file individually, in order). Method 1: Install all MSU files together Download all MSU files for KB5078740 from Microsoft Update Catalog and place them in the same folder (for example, C:/Packages). Use Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM.exe) to install the target update. DISM will use the folder specified in PackagePath to discover and install one or more prerequisite MSU files as needed. Updating Windows PC To apply this update to a running Windows PC, run the following command from an elevated Command Prompt:

If you want to remove the LCU
Before you decide to remove the LCU, see Understanding the risks: Why you should not uninstall security updates.
To remove the LCU after installing the combined SSU and LCU package, use the DISM/Remove-Package command line option with the LCU package name as the argument. You can find the package name by using this command: DISM /online /get-packages.
Running Windows Update Standalone Installer (wusa.exe) with the /uninstall switch on the combined package will not work because the combined package contains the SSU. You cannot remove the SSU from the system after installation.
