Before installing your new genuine version of Office you need to remove the counterfeit version by doing a complete uninstall. See the section below, Uninstall the counterfeit version of Office.
Note: Did you already install genuine Office?   If you already installed the genuine version, but still see the "Get genuine Office" message, it could mean traces of the counterfeit version are still on your device. Be sure to completely remove the counterfeit version by using the uninstall support tool below.
Uninstall all versions of Office and then install genuine Office
Step 1. Uninstall the counterfeit version of Office using the uninstall troubleshooter
Before you install genuine Office, make sure to uninstall the counterfeit version first by following these steps.
Note:Â If you've already installed the genuine version of Office, this tool will uninstall both the counterfeit and genuine version. Once the uninstall is complete, you'll need to reinstall the genuine version in Step 2.
Use the uninstall troubleshooter to uninstall Microsoft 365, Office 2021, Office 2019, or Office 2016 from your Windows PC.

Select the button below to start the uninstall troubleshooter.

Click Open if you get a pop-up window indicating This site is trying to open Get Help.

Follow the prompts on the remaining screens and when prompted, restart your computer.

The uninstall troubleshooter currently can't uninstall Office 2024.

Run the troubleshooter on the same Windows PC with the Microsoft 365 or Office product you want to uninstall.

You need to be on Windows 10Â or higher to run the troubleshooter.
Tip: If the Microsoft 365 uninstall troubleshooter doesn't completely uninstall Microsoft 365 or Office from your PC, you can try to manually uninstall Office.
Step 2. Install genuine Office
Tip: For installation help, see Download and install or reinstall Microsoft 365 or Office 2019 on a PC or Mac.
After you've uninstalled the counterfeit version of Office, go to www.office.com and select Install Office. If you need to sign in, make sure that you use the same Microsoft account you used to purchase your genuine Office product.
