Edit your Yammer conversation post or reply

Note: This topic describes features in new Yammer. For information on using this feature in classic Yammer, see Edit a message in Yammer.

Everyone makes mistakes sometimes—or needs to make important additions or updates. You can make changes to conversation starters and replies that you've posted to Yammer.

Note: Editing is only available on your own posts and comments.

  1. Find your conversation post that you want to edit.

  2. Click Edit and do one of the following:

    • If your post is the starting post of the conversation, go to the More icon in the top right, open it, and click Edit.

      Conversation Post More button

    • If your post is the reply to a conversation starter, go to the More options ellipsis at the bottom of the post, open it, and click Edit.

View the original version of a post

Anyone who can see a post can see its original version.

Note: The full edit history of a post is not available in the new Yammer although you can see its original version.

  1. At the top of the post, click Edited.

An Edit History box with the original version appears.

  2. Click the X in the upper-right corner to dismiss the Edit History box.

  • Editing a conversation post or comment is not available for Yammer external communities.

  • The ability to change attachments (files and images) is not currently supported.

  • If you have a comment with an embedded video or gif, you need to delete the comment and recreate it.

  • Polls cannot be edited to prevent them from becoming invalid once people start responding.
