Symptoms
When you try to set up Microsoft Office Premium, you receive an HTTP error message that prevents you from completing the setup process. This error occurs only during the setup of the following installations:
-
Office Personal Premium with Microsoft 365 Services
-
Office Home and Business Premium with Microsoft 365 Services
-
Office Professional with Microsoft 365 Services
The related error codes are typically 400 (Bad request), 403 (Forbidden), and 404 (Not Found).
Cause
This problem typically occurs when the client can't access the redemption service to provision Office on a particular device. A temporary outage of the Office redemption service may cause this problem, or local Internet and firewall settings may prevent the client from successfully calling the service endpoint. And, because the Microsoft account information is also sent with the request, this account information itself could be the source of the problem.
Resolution
If this error is a caused by a temporary outage of the Office service, try to set up Office Premium later. If the call is being blocked locally by a firewall setting or by antivirus software, temporarily turning off or disabling these items may resolve the problem. If the problem is caused by a Microsoft account ID authentication error, you may be able to resolve this problem by using a different or new Microsoft account ID.
