Lync for Mac 2011 sign in issues with Microsoft 365

You cannot sign into Lync for Mac by using your work account.

Cannot sign into Lync for Mac when connecting through VPN

You cannot sign into Lync for Mac when you are connected through a Cisco or Juniper VPN client.

User settings are not migrated from Communicator to Lync

Lync does not automatically migrate the user credentials, conversation history, and the preferences from Communicator. You can still access the Communicator conversation history from Users/<username>/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Microsoft Communicator History.

Lync has limited support for devices and device settings

Lync users prompted for Keychain access rights

Lync stores user credentials in the keychain. If you don’t want to see the keychain access dialog, select Always Allow.

Cannot sign into Lync if the computer’s system date is set to an older date

Make sure your computer’s system date is current.

Enabling logging can cause performance issues

Turn off logging after troubleshooting is completed. If you do not turn off logging, the log files continue to increase in size and can cause performance issues.

Kerberos authentication fails when the user who signs in is different from the Kerberos Active user

During the sign-in process, Lync always uses the Active User ticket to authenticate and if the credentials do not match, the sign-in fails. You need to manually switch the Active User information in the operating system.

Cannot transfer files to users who are outside the corporate network

You can send files to users within your corporate network only.

Cannot request control on a desktop that is being shared by a user using Lync for Mac

A device using Lync for Mac 2011 with desktop sharing cannot request control or give control to another device.

Cannot convert an appointment in Outlook to an online meeting

To create an online meeting from Outlook, you must open a new Outlook meeting request.

Cannot find the Online Meeting option in Outlook

After you install Lync, restart Outlook. The Online Meeting option is available when you create new Meeting invites.

Cannot share desktop with a user using Communicator Web Access

To enable desktop sharing between a device using a browser and a device using Lync for Mac, make sure the browser is using Lync Web App rather than Communicator Web Access.

Lync does not support proxies that require authentications

If your proxy server requires a password, you cannot sign in to Lync. Contact your administrator.

Animations does not work during PowerPoint sharing session

Windows Lync users cannot see animations in PowerPoint during PowerPoint sharing session presented by Lync for Mac users.

Instead of the PowerPoint sharing session, consider sharing your desktop and run the PowerPoint presentation with animations.

Cannot upload PowerPoint files for sharing from Lync for Mac

You can share your desktop and run a PowerPoint presentation.

You can also participate in a PowerPoint Presentation meeting that has been initiated from a Windows-based computer, and if needed, take over as the presenter of the meeting.
