If you're having trouble getting a video background to work, here are some ideas.

  • Background effects aren’t available when running Teams in Linux, or when using Teams through a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI).

  • Is your Camera Off button camera currently turned on? If you don't want to be on camera until you have a background, turn on your camera and setup a background before you enter a meeting.

  • If you added a background during a meeting, did you select Apply? You can choose Preview to check it, but must select Apply to set it.

  • Try clearing the Teams cache. For more info, see Clear the Teams cache.

  • Check with your Teams Admin. Backgrounds are enabled by default, but may have turned them off intentionally.
