Action may cause a scheduling conflict because the remaining work cannot be rescheduled

The task that you're changing is linked to another task. At some earlier time, this task was linked to another task so that this task could not start or finish until the linked task had started or finished.

Or you're setting an actual start date, indicating that work has begun on this task. This may create a scheduling conflict, either now or later, because the remaining work on this task cannot be rescheduled so that its completion is still driven by the linked task.

You can avoid this scheduling conflict by selecting the Split In-Progress Tasks option with the Planning Wizard. Using this option allows Microsoft Project to reschedule the remaining work so that the linked task drives the completion of the work. Alternatively, you can avoid the conflict by canceling this action.

Note: Go to Set a task start or finish date (constraint) for a task for additional information.

Using the Planning Wizard, you can:

Select the Split In-Progress Tasks option and set the actual start date.

Project will reschedule the remaining work according to the requirements of the task dependency.

Cancel the action.

Project will cancel the action and will not set an actual start date for the task.

Continue the action and allow the scheduling conflict.

Project will set the actual start date for the task, allowing a scheduling conflict to occur.

If you don't want the Planning Wizard to display this information again, select the Don't tell me about this again check box.
