• Assign Tasks: You can facilitate collaboration and stay organized by creating and assigning tasks directly from within your Word document using @mentions in comments. The people you assign the tasks to will receive email notifications, letting them know they need to take action. Ready to give it a try? Open an existing document stored on OneDrive or SharePoint. Highlight the text that contains the information you want to comment on, select New Comment, write your comment and type @ followed by the name of the team member you want to tag. Then, press Ctrl + Enter to post your comment and select the Assign to check box to convert your comment into a task.

• User-defined permissions now support domain name restrictions: When you choose a sensitivity label configured for user-defined permissions, they can now use domain names to restrict file access to specific individuals, or to all individuals from that domain. New Rating question added to Polls app

Many Teams users wanted a way to quickly get feedback from meeting attendees on how satisfied they were or how well they understood the meeting content. So, we've added a new Rating question type to the Polls app within Microsoft Teams. Meeting owners can easily create and launch Rating polls to increase engagement and collect input from their meeting attendees, as well as share the results in real time. To create a Rating poll question, simply select Rating when creating a new poll in Teams.

You have been asking for more control over how Excel automatically converts your data to specific formats. We delivered! You now have the ability to disable specific types of automatic data conversions; this way, you won't need to worry about Excel converting your data to a format that you didn't want and weren't expecting. To do so, just select File > Options > Advanced > Automatic Data Conversion and choose the conversion(s) that you'd like to disable.

Now, for the first time, SketchUp graphics (.skp files) can be integrated into your creations in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook! To add a SketchUp file to your content, click Insert > 3D Models > This Device, then select the .skp file you want and click Insert.

Now you can, with the Data from Picture feature! To take advantage of this powerful feature, simply go to the Data tab and select From Picture, then choose the source; you can also review and correct the data, if necessary, before inserting it into your worksheet.

It's now easier to find key documents in Visio with the Shared with Me list. Any documents shared with you will automatically show up in your list; typically, the most relevant documents to you appear at the top of the list. Note that you'll only see the specific files people have chosen to share with you, so that their other files remain secure. To experience this feature, simply click on the Home tab or the Open tab and select Shared with Me.

On resource-constrained devices (two cores or less and eight gigabytes of RAM or less), Excel has now by default made recalculation more optimal by running calculation on a single thread. In most cases, users should see noticeably faster calculation on these devices. Note that in some cases that require compute-intensive calculation, users may want to consider overriding this default by selecting File > Options, then going to the Formulas section of the Advanced tab and setting Number of calculation threads to "2."

We've sped up the time required for entering a formula in a cell by reducing memory usage, making more efficient memory allocation calls, and optimizing the redrawing of the visible range around the cell being edited. Send emails from a proxy account

You asked for it! Outlook has traditionally supported receiving email at addresses other than your default address (known as a proxy address, or alias). Now you can send mail from those proxy accounts as well by choosing the desired outgoing address. To use this feature, click Home > New Email. In the message window, click the arrow on the right side of the From button and choose Manage List. You can then add additional From addresses to the dropdown menu. Apply default sensitivity labels when modifying existing files

Up until now, default sensitivity labels, configured by your administrator, were automatically applied when a file was created. Now, labels are applied whenever a document, worksheet, or presentation is either created or modified. Note that you can select a different label if one better matches the sensitivity of a given file.

We've now made this feature even more powerful by adding specific voice commands, enabling you to add people to an email, mention (@name) someone in a message, and send the mail—all using only your voice. To use this feature, click the Dictate button on the Message tab for an email. If you forget your clicker or don't want to use, your Surface earbuds have you covered. You can swipe forward and backward on the left earbud to navigate your presentation when it is in Slide Show mode. You can play or pause videos embedded in your presentation by double tapping.

How it works

Once paired, you'll need to enable the feature in PowerPoint.

• Start a presentation by pressing F5 or selecting Slide Show > From Beginning.

• In Slide Show, right click on the slide and under Surface Earbuds Settings choose Use Gestures to Control Presentation. This setting will be remembered for all future presentations.

Automatically shorten links for OneDrive & SharePoint files

We've made these updates to improve the readability of links to OneDrive and SharePoint files that are shared with recipients using Outlook for Windows. Senders will also be warned if Outlook detects potential access issues for recipients. Then they will be given the ability to address them prior to sending. This will ensure that the links you send will work for recipients.

How it works

When you're composing an email, you can perform one of these actions:

• Copy a link to a file stored on OneDrive or SharePoint. Then paste it into the body of an email message.

• On the Message tab, select Link > Insert Link and select a file stored on OneDrive or SharePoint.

• Right-click the body of an email message and select Link > Insert Link. Then select a file stored on OneDrive or SharePoint.

Microsoft 365 tenant global administrators and Office Apps Administrators will be notified about Outlook and O365 Exchange incidents affecting their users with a new right-side panel notification. The pane will be automatically displayed if incidents have been identified, but you can also open it by clicking Help > Admin Notifications.

Based on your feedback, we've added a new input field in the Colors dialog for Hex color values! Never again will you spend time converting Hex color values into RGB values.

How to access

Are you part of too many groups to count? Customize which emails or events to receive or follow in your inbox. In group settings you can select to receive all mail and events, only replies to you, replies and events sent to you, or to keep them out of your inbox altogether.

Groups Naming policy

A group naming policy enables the IT admin to standardize and manage the names of groups created by users in the organization. The admin can require a specific prefix and suffix be added to the name for a group when it's created, and can block specific words from being used. This helps minimize the use of inappropriate words in group names as well as manage the representation of groups in their directory. Naming Policy also helps organizations that deploy team sites to categorize them based on department.
