Use SharePoint Online Modern Experience with your keyboard and a screen reader to insert a list from Microsoft Lists to a page. We have tested it with Narrator in Microsoft Edge and JAWS and NVDA in Chrome, but it might work with other screen readers and web browsers as long as they follow common accessibility standards and techniques.

Notes: 

Insert a list to a page 

You can insert lists which have been shared with you or which you've created in Microsoft Lists.

  1. Go to the SharePoint page where you want to add the list.

  2. To switch to the edit mode, press the Tab key until you hear with Narrator: "Command bar, New, menu item." With JAWS and NVDA, you hear: "New submenu." Do one of the following:

    • With Narrator, press the SR key+Right arrow key or the Down arrow key until you hear: "Edit page, menu item."

    • With JAWS and NVDA, press the Right arrow key until you hear: "Edit page."

  3. Press Enter to select. Turn off Narrator scan mode. With JAWS and NVDA, switch to focus navigation. Then do one of the following:

    • To add a list inside a section, press the Tab key until you find the section you want, and then press Enter. Press the Tab key until you hear "Add a new web part," followed by the number of the column where you want to insert the list.

    • To add a list outside a section, press the Tab key until you hear "Add a new web part," followed by the number of the column where you want to insert the list.

  4. Press Enter. A dialog box for selecting a web part opens.

  5. Press the Tab key until you hear "List," and then press Enter to select. Available lists from Microsoft Lists are displayed. Press Enter.

  6. Do one of the following:

    • With Narrator, press the SR key+Right arrow key or I until you hear the name of the list you want to insert.

    • With JAWS and NVDA, press the Tab key once, and then use the Up and Down arrow keys to navigate to the list you want to insert.

  7. When the focus is on the list you want, press Enter to insert it. The content of the selected list is displayed.

  8. To close the edit mode, press Esc twice. The focus returns to the SharePoint page.

  9. To make the updated page available to others, do one of the following:

    • With Narrator, press the Tab key or Shift+Tab until you hear "Command bar," press the SR key+Right or Left arrow key, or I or Shift+I until you hear "Republish, button," and then press Enter.

    • With NVDA, press the Tab key or Shift+Tab until you hear the first option on the command bar, for example, "Undo, more options, menu button," press the Right arrow key until you hear "Republish button," and then press Enter.

    • With JAWS, press the Tab key or Shift+Tab until you hear "Show header and navigation," press the Left arrow key until you hear "Republish button," and then press Enter.

  10. If you're prompted to confirm republishing the page, press the Tab key until you hear "Republish," and then press Enter.

Insert a list to a page

Insert a list and add list items to it to keep your page organized and structured. You can also add the list as a Microsoft Lists tab to a Microsoft Teams channel, for example.

  1. Press the Tab key until you hear "Link, Site contents," and then press Enter. The Site contents page opens.

  2. Press the Tab key until you hear "Add an app," and then press Enter.

  3. Press the Tab key until you hear "Link, custom list," and then press Enter. You hear: "Dialog, name." The focus is in the Name text field.

  4. Type a descriptive name for your list. When you're ready, press the Tab key until you hear "Create," and then press Enter. The list is added to the Site contents page.

  5. To start editing the new list, press the Tab key until you hear "Link," followed by the name of the list, and then press Enter. You hear: "Welcome to your new list."

  6. To add the first list item, press the Tab key until you hear "New item or edit this list," and then press Enter. You hear: "Title, edit." Type a title for the first list item, press the Tab key until you hear "Save," and then press Enter. To add subsequent list items, repeat this step for each list item.
