If you see your subscription under Canceled subscriptions, you'll need to renew using the Renew link on the Services & subscriptions page. You can also renew by going to https://office.com/renew.
Microsoft Workplace Discount Program users: Activate using a product key
If you bought Office Professional Plus, Visio Professional, or Project Professional through your employer's Microsoft Workplace Discount Program (formerly known as Home Use Program) benefit, you must activate using your product key. Signing in using an email address won't work. See Get your Workplace Discount Program product key if you don't have your key.
-
Close all Office apps.
-
Start any Office app and do one of the following:
If you see Sign in to set up Office, select I don't want to sign in or create an account (it's a small link at the bottom of the window).
If you see Hello, confirm your account, select Use a different account, then select I don't want to sign in or create an account.
-
In the Enter your product key screen, enter the product key to activate Office.
-
Agree to the License terms by selecting Accept and start Word.
Note: If your Workplace Discount Program product key is for Office 2013 or earlier, we recommend that you uninstall Office 365 on this PC and then install or reinstall your Office product.
Try another account
Please try signing in using all your personal email addresses in case you bought Office using a different email address. If you're at work or school, you may need to log in using your work or school account instead of your personal email account.
To check if your Microsoft account is associated with Office, sign in to Services & subscriptions. Your Office product or Microsoft 365 subscription should be listed there. If it's not, your email address won't work for signing in to Office.
Complete the purchase or renewal process
It can take a few minutes for a recent purchase or renewal to be detected. If you just bought Office or renewed Microsoft 365, please wait a few minutes before starting to troubleshoot.
If your Office purchase still isn't detected, it's possible that you haven't finished the process that associates your email address with your purchase. If you bought a one-time purchase of Office, such as Office Home & Student, from the Microsoft Store, here's how to find your purchase and associate it with your Microsoft account:
-
Go to www.microsoftstore.com and sign in (upper right-hand corner) with the Microsoft account that you used to buy Office.
-
After you sign in, select your name in the upper right-hand corner, and then select Order History.
-
Locate the Office one-time purchase or individual Office app, and then select Install Office to view your product key (this doesn't actually install Office).
-
Select Install Office again in the window where the product key appears.
-
On the Hi. Let's get your Office page, follow the prompts to sign in again and associate your product key with your Microsoft account.
If you just renewed your Microsoft 365 subscription, and you can see the subscription in Services & subscriptions, but Office still won't activate, please contact Microsoft support for assistance.
What to do if your offer expired
If you received an offer for a 1-year subscription to Microsoft 365, the offer expires 180 days after you activate Windows. You'll see this message if your offer for Microsoft 365 expires before you redeem it. For help, contact Microsoft support.
Check your license (Microsoft 365 for business)
It's possible your admin didn't assign you an Office license, or revoked your Office license. If you get the error "Your admin has turned off Office install" when you go to https://aka.ms/office-install, contact your admin to get a license for Office. If you're the admin, see Assign licenses to users in Office 365 for business.
Check your subscription (Microsoft 365 for business)
It's possible that your organization's Microsoft 365 for business subscription has been canceled or has not been renewed. If you're the admin, you can go to the Subscriptions page page to check your subscription status. For help, see Renew Office 365 for business.
