Outlook mail doesn't sync on Android when in Low Power Mode

Applies To
Outlook for Android

If Outlook for Android doesn't sync mail, even when you swipe down on the message list, Android might be restricting Authenticator to save battery.

To fix the issue, allow Authenticator to run without battery restrictions. You don't need to change Outlook's battery settings for this specific issue.

Exempt Authenticator from battery optimization

Exact steps vary by device.

Note

Allowing unrestricted battery usage might increase battery consumption.

Google devices (Pixel, Android One)

  1. Open Settings > Apps > Authenticator > App battery usage.
  2. Select Unrestricted.

Alternatively:

  1. Open Settings > Battery > Battery Optimization.
  2. Select All apps > Authenticator.
  3. Select Don't optimize.

Samsung devices (One UI)

  1. Open Settings > Apps > Authenticator > Battery.
  2. Select Unrestricted.
  3. Make sure Authenticator isn't listed as a sleeping or deep sleeping app. For more information, see Sleeping apps on your Galaxy device.

Xiaomi devices (MIUI or HyperOS)

  1. Open Settings > Apps > Manage apps > Authenticator > Battery saver.
  2. Select No restrictions.
  3. Under Settings > Battery > Battery saver, make sure Authenticator isn't restricted.

After changing the setting, return to Outlook and swipe down on the message list to sync your mail.
