As of May 15th, 2019, a new European Union regulation caps the prices of calls and SMS for Skype users residing in the European Economic Area (EEA), under certain criteria. The capped prices apply to calls and SMS placed from within the EEA and directed to a phone number of another EEA country. Calls and SMS that do not qualify for the capped rates under the new regulation will continue to be charged Skype’s standard rates.
