Symptoms
You may notice a continual increase in memory consumption by the W3wp.exe process on a server that has Outlook Anywhere published through a Microsoft Forefront Unified Access Gateway (UAG) 2010 trunk. This memory consumption or memory leak is generally very gradual. Therefore, you may not notice the memory consumption or leak unless the IIS worker process is running for several days or weeks.
Cause
This problem occurs because every time that a client uses Integrated Windows Authentication to access Outlook Anywhere, a memory leak occurs. This problem generally only applies to Outlook clients that access Outlook Anywhere on a Forefront UAG portal.
Resolution
To resolve this problem, install Service Pack 4 for Microsoft Forefront Unified Access Gateway 2010.
Workaround
To work around this problem, restart the IIS worker process periodically. This prevents the memory leak from causing any adverse effect to server stability.
Status
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
