Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:

You open a presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint 2010.

The presentation contains an audio clip that is set to play across slides.
-
The audio clip is trimmed to start to play from a specific time in the clip, such as from time 0:20, and not from the beginning of the audio clip (that is, from time 0:00).
In this scenario, you experience the following symptoms when you play the audio clip:

The audio clip plays from the beginning of the audio clip (from time 0:00).
-
The audio clip plays only for the duration of the trim.
Workaround
To work around this problem, use method 1. If method 1 does not work around the problem, use method 2.
Method 1
Compress the audio clip before you set it to play across slides. To compress the audio clip, follow these steps:

Click the File tab.

Click Info.
-
In the Media Size and Performance section, click Compress Media, and then click the kind of quality that you want.
Method 2
Run Document Inspector to force removal of the trimmed part of the audio clip. To run Document Inspector, follow these steps:

Click the File tab.

Click Info.
-
Click Check for Issues.
-
Click Inspect Document.
-
Click to select the Document Properties and Personal Information check box.

Click Inspect.
-
Click Remove All to remove the media trim information that was found.
Status
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
