When Cortana can't connect to the internet, try these steps to see if you can restore the connection:

  1. Confirm that your internet service provider and your router are both functioning correctly and that you have an internet connection. If you can access other websites, the problem isn't with the internet.

  2. If you're using a wired connection, make sure both ends of your Ethernet cable are securely plugged in to both your PC and your router or modem.

  3. If Cortana still can't connect, type Network status in the search box on the Windows taskbar. then select Network troubleshooter under Advanced network settings.

  4. If the issue isn't with your network, there might just be a temporary issue with the Cortana service. Wait a moment and then try your query again.
