Summary
This article describes the Microsoft Outlook 2010 issue that is fixed in the hotfix package that is dated December 20, 2011.
INTRODUCTION
Issue that this hotfix package fixes
Consider the following scenario:
-
You configure Outlook 2010 to connect to Microsoft Exchange Server 2003.
-
You create a meeting request, and then you add a Microsoft Office 365 user to the meeting request in Outlook 2010.
-
You check the Office 365 user’s free/busy information by using the Scheduling Assistant.
In this scenario, you are prompted to provide your user name and password. This occurs because Outlook attempts to connect to Exchange Web Services URLs. To determine the location of Web Services, Outlook 2010 makes a request to the AutoDiscover service. AutoDiscover and Web Services are not available in Exchange Server 2003. The Web Services functionality was introduced in Exchange Server 2007 and is also available with Exchange Server 2010. Since the Outlook client is unable to contact AutoDiscover, you are unexpectedly prompted for credentials.
Resolution
