Summary
This article describes the Microsoft Word 2010 issues that are fixed in the hotfix package that is dated December 13, 2011. Â
INTRODUCTION
Issues that this hotfix package fixes
-
Consider the following scenario:
-
You use the Excel Spreadsheet command to insert a table into a Word 2010 document.
-
You input some data into the table, and then you copy the cells that contain the data.
-
You paste a link to the data outside the table in the document.
-
You change some data in the table.
In this scenario, if you select the link and press F9 to update it, you receive the following error message:
Objects in this document contain links to files that cannot be found. The linked information will not be updated.
Then, if you close and reopen the document, you receive the following error message:
Word is unable to create a link to the object you specified. Please insert the object directly into your file without creating a link.
Additionally, after you click OK, the link is replaced with the following text:
Error! Not a valid link.
-
-
When you try to paste something as a .jpg, .gif, or .png file into an editable region of a protected document in Word 2010, the paste operation fails without any warning.
-
Consider the following scenario:
-
You insert a picture into an .rtf file in Word 2010.
-
The picture contains some text in the Description field on the Alt Text tab.
Note The Description field is located on the Alt Text tab of the Format Picture dialog box. -
You save and close the .rtf file.
-
You reopen the .rtf file in Word 2010.
-
-
Assume that you create a document in Word 2010. When you type an email address inside the square brackets after the Mailto: header, the email address is displayed as an incorrect hyperlink. For example, you type abc@example.com inside the square brackets after the Mailto: header. In this situation, the email address is formatted as a [Mailto:abc@example.com] link. Additionally, when you click the link, the text "[Mailto:abc@example.com]" is inserted into the To box in Microsoft Outlook.
Note There is no space between the Mailto: header and the email address. -
When you open a document that contains a horizontal line at the bottom of the page and print the document on a paper size that is larger than the document itself, the horizontal line at the bottom of the page is not printed.
