Overview

This article describes how you can find the build number for the Microsoft Dynamics NAV executables in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 and in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0.  

Also, the article describes how you can find the build number from the properties of the Microsoft Dynamics NAV executables files for the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Classic client, RoleTailored client, NAV server, and Application server.

Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009

RoleTailored Client

1.       Click the Help button (Question Mark) at the top right corner of  the Role Center and select About Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

2.       The About Microsoft Dynamics NAV window shows the version of the Microsoft Dynamics NAV database and the client executables similar to the following:

Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2
Version US 6.0 R2
6.0.32012.0

Where

US 6.0 R2 is the country and product version of the Microsoft Dynamics NAV database 

6.0.32012.0 is the build number of the client executables

Classic Client

1.       Click Help on the Menu Bar and select About Microsoft Dynamics NAV. 

2.       The About Microsoft Dynamics NAV window shows the version of the Microsoft Dynamics NAV database and the client executables similar to the following:

Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2
Version US 6.0 R2 (6.00.32012)

Where

6.00.32012 is the build number of the client executables

Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0

Classic Client

1.       Click Help on the Menu Bar and select About Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

2.       The About Microsoft Dynamics NAV window shows the version of the Microsoft Dynamics NAV database and the client executables similar to the following:

Version US Dynamics NAV 5.0 SP1 (5.0 SP1)

Where

US 5.0 SP1 is the country and product version of the Microsoft Dynamics NAV database 

(5.0 SP1) is the version of the client executables.

To find the build number of the Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0 executables, double-click the version line (Version US Dynamics NAV 5.0 SP1 (5.0 SP1)). A dialog box opens, which displays the build number of the executables.

How to find the build number from the properties of the executables files

You can also find the build number for the Microsoft Dynamics NAV executables from the properties of the executables files.

1.       Locate the executables file

2.       Right-click the file

3.       Select the Details tab

4.       File version shows the build number of the executables file

The following lists the executables files for Microsoft Dynamics NAV and the default location of these files:

Microsoft Dynamics NAV Classic client

o    Fin.exe (native client)

o    Finsql.exe (SQL Server client)

 Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\Classic

 Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0 
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\CSIDE Client

 

Microsoft Dynamics NAV RoleTailored client (version 2009)

o    Microsoft.dynamics.nav.client.exe

Default location

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\RoleTailored Client

 

Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server (version 2009)

o    Microsoft.dynamics.nav.server.exe

Default location

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\Service

 

Microsoft Dynamics NAV Application Server

o    Nas.exe

o    Nassql.exe

Default location

Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\Application Server
