Introduction

This article describes the issues that are fixed in Hotfix 1 for Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager 2022. This article also contains the installation instructions for this hotfix.


Note: Existing Data Protection Manager to Microsoft Azure customers should upgrade to the latest agent (version 2.0.9249.0 or a later version) following these instructions. If the latest agent is not installed, online backups may fail, and no Data Protection Manager to Microsoft Azure operation will work.

Issues that are fixed


This hotfix fixes the following issues:

  • Intermittent online backup failures with error 100195

  • Secondary protection consistency check failure with VSS non-transient error

  • Remote admin console crash right after opening the console

  • Backup failures due to DpmFilter.sys not loading on DPM agent

  • DPM crashes when tape backup failure alerts are inactive

Prerequisites

To apply this hotfix, you need to have Data Protection Manager 2022 installed.

Installation instructions

To install this hotfix, follow these steps:

  1. Download the hotfix to a target folder on your computer.

  2. Open the target folder and do one the following based on your requirement:

    • Select and right-click DataProtectionManager-KB5015376.exe file to install the hotfix on the DPM server.

    • Select and right-click DPMCentralConsoleServer-KB5015376.exe file to install the hotfix on the SCOM central console server.

    • Select and right-click DPMManagementShell-KB5015376.exe file to install the hotfix on Remote DPM Console server.

  3. Select Run as administrator.

  4. Accept the Microsoft Software License Terms, and then follow the steps in the installation wizard.

In the Data Protection Manager Administrator Console, update the protection agents. To do this, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Update the protection agents from the Data Protection Manager Administrator Console

  1. Open the Data Protection Manager Administrator Console.

  2. Select the Management tab, and then select the Agents tab.

  3. In the Protected Computer list, select a computer, and then select Update on the Action pane.

  4. Select Yes, and then select Update Agents.

Method 2: Update the protection agents on the protected servers

  1. Obtain the updated protection agent package from the installation directory of the System Center Data Protection Manager 2022 server at following path: agents\RA\10.22.136.0\amd64\1033\DPMProtectionAgent_KB5015376.msp

  2. Run the DPMProtectionAgent.msp package on each protected server.

  3. Open the Data Protection Manager Administrator Console on the System Center Data Protection Manager server 2022.

  4. Select the Management tab, and then select the Agents tab. Select the protected server, refresh the information, and then verify that the agent version number is 10.22.136.0

Replacement Information

This hotfix does not replace any other previously released hotfix.

Restart Information

You need to reboot the DPM Server after installing the DPM hotfix.
