Symptoms

Assume that you have many databases (for example, 1,000 databases) in a single instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or 2017. You may notice that memory usage is greater when you compare it to memory usage in earlier versions of SQL Server.

Resolution

This fix is included in the following cumulative updates for SQL Server: 

Cumulative Update 2 for SQL Server 2017

Cumulative Update 9 for SQL Server 2016 RTM

Cumulative Update 6 for SQL Server 2016 SP1
