Symptoms

Assume that you use FileTable feature in SQL Server on the machine that uses Windows Defender Antivirus. An access violation (AV) occurs and you see keywords EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION and FFtFileObject::ProcessSetInfo in the SQL Server error log. This issue can occur after Windows Defender updates on Windows 10 Version 1607 or a later version, Windows Server 2016, and Windows Server 2019.

Resolution

This issue is fixed in the following cumulative updates for SQL Server:
