This article describes update KB3118373 for Microsoft Excel 2016, which was released on October 4, 2016. This update has a prerequisite. Be aware that the update on the Microsoft Download Center applies to the Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based edition of Office 2016. This update enables Office collaboration synchronization integration to have the latest version of OneDrive for Business. It also enables coauthoring for Office documents that are synchronized by OneDrive in a reliable and high-performance manner. This update lets you use Office with the latest version of OneDrive for Business to enable a great of online and offline user experiences for all files that are synchronized.
Some significant user experiences include the following:-
Quick open of OneDrive synchronized files from anywhere (file explorer, most recently used, or websites). This results in Office applications opening the correct file and keeping all changes in synchronization.

Rich collaboration and sharing experiences.

Offline edits of synchronized files.

Auto synchronization of the changes to the cloud and as soon as you are online.

Assume that you have a conditional formatting that uses a VBA user-defined function to evaluate its condition. If there are multiple visible windows in Excel 2016, the conditional formatting stops working.

To determine whether your Office installation is Click-to-Run or MSI-based, follow these steps:

Start an Office 2016 application.

On the File menu, select Account.

For Office 2016 Click-to-Run installations, an Update Options item is displayed. For MSI-based installations, the Update Options item isn't displayed.
