Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:
-
You configure public folder databases on each Exchange server in a mixed Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 environment.
-
The PR_URL_NAME property of a public folder is changed to an empty value on an Exchange Server 2010 server.
In this scenario, the Exchange Information Store service (Store.exe) crashes on all Exchange Server 2007 servers when the public folder hierarchy object of the public folder is replicated from the Exchange Server 2010 server to the Exchange Server 2007 server. Additionally, the following events are logged in the Application log of the Exchange Server 2007 servers:
Event ID : 4999
Raw Event ID : 4999 Record Nr. : 1085743 Category : None Source : MSExchange Common Type : Error Generated : Date & Time Written : Date & Time Machine : Computer Message : Watson report about to be sent to dw20.exe for process id: Process ID, with parameters: E12N, Build Type, Version Number, store.exe, store.exe, XXXX, c0000005, XXXX, Version Number. ErrorReportingEnabled: TrueEvent ID : 1000
Raw Event ID : 1000 Category : None Source : Application Error Type : Error Generated : Date & Time Written : Date & Time Machine : Computer Message : Faulting application store.exe, version Version, faulting module store.exe, version Version, fault address Address.
Cause
This issue occurs because the Store.exe process cannot handle the empty PR_URL_NAME property of the incoming public folder replication message.
