Consider the following scenario:

  • You install Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack (SP1) on an Exchange Server 2010 Unified Messaging (UM) server in a mixed Exchange Server 2007 and Exchange Server 2010 environment.

  • The Exchange Server 2007 servers are installed on Windows Server 2003-based computers.

  • You install the English (India) (en-IN) UM language pack on the Exchange Server 2010 UM server.

In this scenario, the Microsoft Exchange Transport service (MSExchangeTransport.exe) crashes on the Exchange Server 2007 servers. Additionally, the following events are logged in the Application log:

If you run the Get-ExchangeServer command to obtain the attributes of the Exchange Server 2007 servers, you receive the following error message:

Culture ID 16393 (0x4009) is not a supported culture

This issue occurs because Windows Server 2003 does not support the en-IN culture ID.

To resolve this issue, install the following update rollup:

2407025 Description of Update Rollup 2 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 3

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
