Connect to a Microsoft Teams meeting by calling in. Either dial in as a participant, or as the conference call leader. Both leaders and participants can use dual-tone multiple-frequency (DTMF) commands to manage the conferencing experience.

Note: In Teams, conference call leaders are referred to as presenters. The meeting organizer is automatically joined as the leader.

Join a meeting by phone audio

In Microsoft Teams, the Call me feature gives users a way to join the audio portion of a meeting by phone. This is handy in scenarios when using a computer for audio might not be possible. Users get the audio portion of the meeting through their cell phone or land line and the content portion of the meeting—such as when another meeting participant shares their screen or plays a video—through their computer.

  1. Click Join to join a meeting.

  2. Choose Phone audio under Choose your video and audio options.

  3. Select Join now. From here, users can have the meeting call and join them or dial in manually to the meeting.

  4. You will be prompted to enter the phone number you'd like the meeting to call. Do so and then select Call me.

Call in to a Teams meeting

For most Teams meetings, you can join by dialing the conference call number. As soon as you’re connected to the call, you can mute your line or hear a list of people on the call by using DTMF commands.

The following table shows the typical DTMF commands available to participants during a conference call:

DTMF Code

Description

*1

Privately play a description of the available DTMF commands.

*3

Privately play the name of each participant in the conference.

*4

Mute audience or return mute control to participants.

Important: Turning off audience muting does not unmute individual participants. When you turn off audience muting, participants hear a message explaining how to unmute themselves.

*5

Raise or lower your hand.

*6

Mute or unmute your microphone.

*7

Lock or unlock the conference.

*8

Admit all participants currently in the lobby to the conference. After you issue this command, everyone joining the meeting bypasses the lobby.

*9

Enable or disable announcements for participants entering and exiting the conference. Announcements are heard by everyone in the meeting.

*21

Admit all attendees waiting in the lobby.

*22

Mute all participants except the organizer.

*23

Enable or disable enter/exit announcement.
