In Microsoft Teams (free), you can share your location with your contacts, but you can also share places and set notifications when someone arrives at or leaves that shared place.

In order to be notified when a contact arrives at or leaves a location, the contact must be sharing their location as described in this article.

Note: This feature is currently available on Microsoft Teams (free) for iOS and Android.

First, verify that your contact has allowed location sharing in Microsoft Teams (free) on their Android device:

  1. Go to Settings on your Android device then tap Apps.

  2. Scroll down and tap Teams.

  3. Tap Permissions then tap Location. Select Allow only while using the app.

Next, you can select a location and set up notifications.

  1. In the chat where you would like to be notified, tap the chat header at the top of the screen.

  2. In the chat details screen, scroll down and under Do more together, select Share location.

  3. Tap PLACES and select Add a shared place.

  4. Search places or tap a Suggested place, then select Add to shared places and tap Done.

  5. Tap Add Notification, select whether you would like to be notified Every time or Once when your contact accesses that shared place, then choose which user(s) you want to be notified about.

  6. Select if you want to be notified when the contact(s) Arrives, Leaves, or Arrives or Leaves.

  7. Tap Done.

The contact(s) you selected will be notified in their Activity Feed that you have added them to the shared place, and that you will be notified when they Arrive and/or Leave, as selected above.

First, your contact needs to enable location sharing following these steps.

  1. In the chat where you want to share your location or set a shared place, tap the Plus Teams plus button black button, then tap Location.

  2. Select Allow While Using App to allow Teams to share your location.

  3. Select Share your live location.

  4. If prompted, tap Allow access to be taken to your phone’s settings, then set Location to Always.

  5. Return to the Teams app.
