Speaker Coach provides private, personalized insight into how you spoke during your meeting or presentation, as well as a summary afterwards. Live insights are only seen by you and are not saved in recorded meeting transcripts.

Important: Microsoft reserves the right to restrict or place limitations on the use of Speaker Coach, with reasonable notice, in order to limit excessive use and/or fraud, and to maintain optimal service performance.

Turn on Speaker Coach

In a meeting

To turn on Speaker Coach during a meeting:

  1. Select More options ....

  2. Select Turn on Speaker Coach.Screenshot of Teams setting where users can turn on Speaker Coach.

  3. Once Speaker Coach is turned on, speak as you normally would to get insights.

Important: Speaker Coach isn't currently supported in channel meetings or meetings started from the Meet now option.

In PowerPoint Live

To turn on Speaker Coach during a PowerPoint presentation:

  1. Select Share content  Teams Share icon, arrow pointing up in your meeting controls.

  2. Choose the PowerPoint presentation you want to display.

  4. Once Speaker Coach is turned on, speak as you normally would and Speaker Coach will offer suggestions. 

Speaker Coach reports

Get an overview of how you spoke during your meeting or presentation after it ends with Speaker Coach reports. Learn important details like your total speaking time, use of repetitive language, and much more.

To access your report after a meeting:

  • Select the notification you receive after the meeting ends.

  • Select the Speaker Coach tab in the meeting's chat conversation.

Note: This information is private and only visible to you.

Turn on Speaker Coach for all meetings 

To turn on Speaker Coach automatically for all your meetings:

  1. Open a Speaker Coach report from a past meeting.

  2. In the report, turn on the Automatically start Speaker Coach in meetings toggle.

Notes: 

  • This setting only applies to the individual device. To apply automatic Speaker Coach settings to multiple devices, turn the setting on in each device.

  • Signing out of Microsoft Teams resets this setting.

FAQ

What languages does Speaker Coach support?

Currently, Speaker Coach supports the English language only. The Teams app language must be set to English to use this feature. Eventually, we plan to include it in other languages.

Is Speaker Coach supported for all types of meetings?

Speaker Coach is supported for all meetings except channel meetings and meetings started using the Meet now option.

Why isn't Speaker Coach starting for me?

Speaker Coach doesn't work if you chose to hide your identity in Captions. If your identity is not hidden, contact your IT admin or customer support.

Can tenant administrators disable Speaker Coach?

Yes, tenant administrators can disable Speaker Coach. Read more about this here.

Where does Teams process the data it uses to provide Speaker Coach feedback?

We process the data in the geographical region where your organization is subscribed to the Microsoft service.

What data or services does Teams use to provide Speaker Coach real time feedback?

The audio of all unmuted participants in the meeting help provide private real-time feedback and suggestions for improvements to only the user who turned on Speaker Coach during the meeting.

What data or services does Teams use to process Speaker Coach insights?

Users' audio and transcriptions are streamed to the Teams Speaker Coach service during the meeting, where it's processed to produce insight data. 

Is my audio and transcription stored?

No, audio and transcriptions are immediately discarded after the meeting. The insights are saved for viewing after the meeting in your summary report.  

Note: Speaker Coach summary reports are stored with the user's other data, like emails and contacts. Summary reports are permanently deleted if the user leaves their organization, and no one else can access them.

Who can access my insight data?

No one except you! Not even your IT admin, your manager, or Microsoft.
