In Communities in Microsoft Teams (free), we’re making updates and changes to the minimum age requirements to join and participate in communities. For some members, these changes will affect their account and data.

What is the minimum age limit to participate in Communities in Teams?
Communities in Teams will no longer be accessible to minors. However, there are many other engaging features to use and participate in Microsoft Teams (free).
When will I lose access to communities?
Current community members that don’t meet the minimum age requirement to participate in Communities in Teams will lose access 30 days from July 31, 2023.
Beginning September 1, 2023, Communities in Teams will no longer be accessible to minors, including creating and joining communities.
Will I lose my data?
If you are a member that doesn’t meet the minimum age requirement, then to prevent data loss, see Export or delete your data in Microsoft Teams (free). Make sure to export your data before the final updates and changes occur in Communities in Teams on August 31, 2023.
What will happen to a community that I own?
Community members that don’t meet the minimum age requirement and own a community, can make another member an owner. Make sure the new owner meets the minimum age requirement. The member must be made an owner before the updates to Communities in Teams. Communities where the only owner is a minor will be deleted after August 31, 2023.
