If you created a useful Copilot prompt and you'd like to keep using it, you can schedule it to run automatically. No need to remember to run it each time. Just set the time and frequency, and Copilot will take care of the rest.

For example, if you often use Copilot to summarize emails that need your attention before you head out for the weekend, you can schedule that prompt to run every Friday afternoon. This way, you’ll get a helpful list without having to run the prompt yourself—making it easier to wrap up your week and avoid missing important messages.

Note: To schedule prompts, you'll need to use m365.cloud.microsoft/chat, Microsoft 365 Copilot in Microsoft Teams, or Microsoft Outlook for the web and Desktop. A Microsoft 365 Copilot license is required. Scheduled prompts will be on by default unless you or your admin has disabled Optional connected experiences.

Here are some other situations where you might want to schedule a Copilot prompt:

  • It’s 8 AM, and you want to start your day feeling prepared. You schedule a prompt to summarize your meetings, agenda, and any notes so you can jump right into it.

  • Every Wednesday you schedule a prompt to remind you of messages and tasks from earlier in the week that still need follow-up so you don’t have to worry about anything slipping through the cracks.

  • It’s the end of the day, and you want a quick summary of what happened in the meetings you attended. You schedule a prompt to summarize any action items and decisions for you to review or add to your to do list for tomorrow.

Create a scheduled prompt

  1. Open Copilot and submit a prompt. To open Copilot, you can go to m365.cloud.microsoft/chat in your browser—or select the Copilot icon Logo icon for Copilot in Word from either the taskbar in Teams or from the vertical taskbar in Outlook for the web or desktop.

  2. Hover over the prompt and select Schedule this prompt.Shows a Copilot prompt with the hover options. "Schedule this prompt" is highlighted.

  3. Select options for when the prompt will run and how many times it will run.

  4. Select Save.Shows the "Schedule a prompt" screen with options for when the prompt should run.

Note: You can create up to 10 different scheduled prompts.

Manage scheduled prompts

To manage your scheduled prompts, select the three-dot menu (…), then select Scheduled prompts.

Shows the expanded "Copilot chats and more" menu, with "Scheduled prompts" highlighted. You can then:

  • Run now – Select if you’d like a scheduled prompt to run immediately. This option is only available for prompts in the Active section.

  • Turn off – Select if you’d like a prompt to stop running. This option is only available for prompts in the Active section.

  • Delete – Select if you’d like to remove a prompt so it no longer runs.

View scheduled prompts

You'll see chat responses on the left side of the Copilot window, in the Conversations section. Scheduled prompts are bolded and have an icon in front of them. Here, you can only view them. To manage them, you'll need to select Copilot chats and more (…), then select Scheduled prompts.

Scheduled prompts are part of the optional connected experiences. To learn more about the settings your organization admin may have chosen, see Overview of optional connected experiences in Office.
