Minimum system requirements

For most scenarios, customers will need to acquire new hardware to get Copilot+ PCs experiences. These are the incremental requirements above the existing minimum system requirements for Windows 11. 

• A processor or System on Chip (SoC) on our approved list. The approved list only includes processors or SoCs that incorporate Neural Processing Units (NPUs*) with 40+ Trillion Operations per Second (TOPS).

• RAM: 16GB DDR5/LPDDR5

• Storage: 256GB SSD/UFS or larger storage device

*NPUs are specialized processors designed to optimize AI capabilities. They perform repetitive tasks at a greater speed than a CPU or a GPU could, freeing up the GPU/CPU to focus on AI tasks. TOPS describes how many computer operations that the processor can perform per second. What does this mean to you? It means that your computer will be able to process at least 40 trillion operations per second and not slow down normal tasks running in the background.
