We are thrilled to announce that the full capabilities of Windows 11 can now be enjoyed on mixed reality headsets, starting with Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S. Microsoft is partnering with Meta to make this experience available today in public preview, and we’re excited to get feedback from the community. Access to your local Windows PC from a Quest headset is seamless and it takes only seconds to connect to a private, high-quality, multiple-monitor workstation.

Setup
On your Windows 11 PC, you'll need to install the Mixed Reality Link application from Microsoft Store.

Frequently asked questions and issues
Here are some of the more common questions or problems about using Mixed Reality Link with your Meta Quest headset. Select any topic, and it will open to provide more information:
Please verify that your Quest 3 and Windows 11 PC are on the same network. If both the PC and Quest 3 are on Wi-Fi, make sure they are both connected to the same wireless network, or SSID. If your PC is Ethernet-connected (wired), make sure that your Quest 3 Wi-Fi network is on the same subnet as your Ethernet-connected PC.
Also, when trying to reconnect after an initial connection, please ensure when you are trying to reconnect that your Windows 11 PC is unlocked and / or not asleep. For security reasons, a Quest 3 headset cannot connect to a locked Windows 11 PC.
Please verify that your signal strength is at least 75% and/or that neither your PC or Quest 3 are connected at 2.4GHz frequency; rather, you should be connected at the 5GHz or 6GHz frequencies. You can determine your Wi-Fi signal strength from your PC by opening a command prompt and entering netsh wlan show interfaces. From here, locate the value next to Signal., which should be higher than 75%. You can also check the entry next to Band to determine which wireless band you are on; if it says 2.4GHz, then you need to move to the 5GHz or 6GHz bands. If you are on a wired connection, disconnect the Ethernet cable, and then run the command above to get a representation of what your Quest 3 would be seeing for Wi-Fi.
With your Quest 3 on your head, disconnect and reconnect the USB cable. Watch carefully for the toast that displays regarding USB connection. (The toast might not always show up, but keep plugging and unplugging your USB cable until you see it.) When you see it, quickly select it. At that point your PC should be able to see the Quest 3 internal storage. You will need to repeat this process every time you connect your Quest 3 to your PC via USB.
On some networks your Quest may not be able to find your PC that you previously paired on a different network. If this happens, select Add Computer and establish a new connection.
Please press Windows logo key + Y and validate if the QR code appears. If you are still unable to establish a connection between the Quest 3 and the Windows 11 PC, please follow the filing feedback section below.
Please try reconnecting or setting up the initial connection again. If you still are getting the above errors, please follow the filing feedback section below.
Turn off your mouse and keyboard, then turn them on again. See My remote desktop display is highly pixelated to check your network setup for lag issues.
Known issues
This is a list of the known issues we are working on with the Mixed Reality Link application:

On a Teams call, a call comes in, but the toast to accept the call does not appear.
-
Audio may not transfer properly to an expected device or may play on a PC and headset simultaneously after establishing a connection.
-
Pressing Ctrl-Alt-Delete will end your connection so you can quickly get back to your PC.
-
Existing connections may show as available when they are not.
-
Three active displays may restrict the quality if the PC doesn't meet the PC graphics requirements above.
Providing feedback
If you have tried all of the above and/or encounter other issues that you can repeat, please help us by logging feedback or participating on the Microsoft Tech Community for "mixed reality link". We realize that there are many steps below. This is a cross collaboration effort between Microsoft and Meta and being able to do all the steps below allows us to quickly identify the issues you might be experiencing. Sending feedback from your Meta Quest 3 / 3S
If you come across a broken feature, issue, or bug while using Remote Desktop on your Windows 11 PC, please send a report directly from your headset using Bugnub:

Press the Meta button on your right controller five times.

Select Include on the panel to include all logs and diagnostics.

Under Category, select Remote Desktop.

Under Type of problem, select the appropriate problem type. In the description box, enter [PrP] and then a brief description of the problem.

When you are finished, select Send Report.
Sending feedback from your Windows PC
If you want to send feedback through your Windows PC, you'll do it in three steps: capturing video of what you are seeing through your Meta Quest headset, capturing the logs from the Meta Quest Windows App, and then submitting them through the Feedback Hub:
Step 1: Capture video of what you are seeing through your headset

Launch the Camera application.

Select the Record Video button. A red dot will appear in your vision to indicate recording has started.

Capture what you are seeing that you want to provide feedback for. Audio will be captured as well, so feel free to tell us what you are seeing also.

When you are done recording, go back to the Camera application and select the button again (it now reads Recording) to stop the recording. The red dot will disappear.

Shortly after stopping the video recording you will see a toast indicating that the video has been saved to your Quest 3. You also may see the video appear in Recents.

Connect a USB-C cable to the side of your Quest 3. If you have a battery pack, you will need to disconnect that USB-C connector. Connect that cable to your PC.

You should see a toast appear on your screen stating USB Connected. You will need to select that toast in order for the Windows 11 PC to see your Quest 3 internal storage. You might need to repeat Step 6 if you do not select the toast in time.

On the PC, open File Explorer, then scroll down the left pane and select This PC. Under Devices and drives, double-click (or long-press) your Quest 3 device, then navigate to your Internal shared storage\Oculus\VideoShots folder.

Locate the video that you just recorded. Copy and paste that video to a folder on your Windows 11 PC.
Step 2: Capture logs from the Windows App
This will collect logs from the Windows App that we need to understand what issues might be occurring on the Quest 3. These are separate logs from what is being collected above with BugNub. Here's what you need to do:

Launch the Windows App on your Quest 3.

Select the account icon in the upper-left corner of the Windows App and you'll see a menu on the left side. Select Troubleshoot.

You will see another set of options. Under Mixed Reality Service Logs, select Export logs to Documents folder.

Connect a USB-C cable to the side of your Quest 3. If you have a battery pack, you will need to disconnect that USB-C connector. Connect that cable to your PC.

You should see a toast appear on your screen stating USB Connected. You will need to select that toast in order for the Windows 11 PC to see your Quest 3 internal storage. You might need to repeat Step 4 if you do not select the toast in time.

On the PC, open File Explorer, then scroll down the left pane and select This PC. Under Devices and drives, double-click (or long-press) your Quest 3 device, then navigate to your Internal shared storage\Documents\WindowsAppLogs folder.

Copy all of the log files to a folder on your Windows 11 PC. (You probably want to do this in the same folder you saved the video to. You'll understand why in a minute.)

In the folder you copied the files to, right-click (or long-press), then select New > Compressed (zipped) Folder. Give it an appropriate name if you like, then move all of the log files into that folder. Now you have them all in one .ZIP file for uploading, which we're going to do next.
Step 3: File the feedback with the Feedback Hub
This is the tool that you will use to file feedback to Microsoft. Here's what to do:

Open Feedback Hub by selecting the button below. If your browser warns you that the link is trying to open Feedback Hub, well, that's what we want, so select Open. Open Feedback Hub

For Step 1: Please fill out a summary under Summarize your feedback and then Explain in more detail as best you can, including the approximate date and time that the incident occurred. This will help us identify where in the log files to look for the incident. Then, select Next.

For Step 2: If you clicked on the link above, the default categories should be set. However, please confirm that the primary category is set to Apps and the secondary category is set to Mixed Reality Link. It’s important to use those categories or the proper logging from the PC won’t occur. Select Next.

For Step 3: Just select Next to bypass this.

For Step 4: Under Which of the following best describes your problem?, select Other, then select Attach a file and attach the recording and .ZIP file from the Windows App (the compressed folder) that you created in the two parts above. Then select Recreate my problem, then Start recording, let it record for about a second, and then select Stop recording.

Finally, select the Submit button to send your feedback.
