This article describes update 2878252 for Microsoft Office 2010 that was released on July 8, 2014.
This update provides the latest fixes for Office 2010. This update improves the round-trip behaviors of modern shapes into legacy shapes and back again between file formats of the 2007 Office system and Office 2003. When you open a document from a web server that accepts or requires client certificates, you are prompted to select the certificate even though there is just one valid certificate available for client authentication.
You expect that files open directly if there is exactly one certificate available for the user. -
Assume that a certificate authorization is required for a document. When you use an Office 2010 application to open the document in a web browser, the browser stops responding.

Registry information
Importantback up the registry for restoration in case problems occur. After you install the hotfix package, follow these steps so that you can open a file directly when it has only one certificate.
Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it,-
Exit all Microsoft Office applications.

Start Registry Editor:

In Windows 7, click Start, type regedit in the Search programs and files text box, and then click regedit.exe in the search results.

In Windows 8, move your mouse to the upper-right corner, click Search and type regedit in the search text box, and then click regedit.exe in the search results.

Locate and then select the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\Internet

On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.

Type QFE898674, and then press Enter.

In the Details pane, right-click QFE898674 , and then click Modify.

In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.

Exit Registry Editor.

How to uninstall this update
Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP

Click Start, and then click Run.

Type Appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.
