Symptoms

When you run a Session Integrator session in an instance of Host Integration Server, a session gets stuck in the system services control point (SSCP) state under a heavy load. In this situation, the session cannot be recovered unless you restart Host Integration Server.

More information

There are multiple ways to stop a Session Integrator or Logical Unit for Applications (LUA) session. Host Integration Server closes these sessions by sending a TERMSLF call as forced. Under certain circumstances, sessions may not be terminated correctly.

This cumulative update introduces a new registry key to indicate whether the TERMSLF call should set to the Orderly flag instead of the default Forced flag.

Registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CCS\Services\SnaServr\Parameters
Type: String value (REG_SZ)
Value name: OrderlyTermSelf
Value data: YES

Note This registry setting also applies to LUA applications.

Resolution

The fix that resolves this problem is included in the following cumulative updates for Host Integration Server:

Cumulative Update 2 for Host Integration Server 2016

Cumulative Update 4 for Host Integration Server 2013

Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
