Group Chat
Group Chat is being retired as part of the transition to the updated Copilot experience. Account updates begin on August 18, 2026, and the timing may vary by account. When your account updates, you will no longer be able to start, join, or participate in Group Chats with Copilot. Your existing Group Chats will be migrated as individual chats with Copilot.
What is Group Chat?
Group Chat allows multiple people to participate in a shared Copilot conversation, where they can brainstorm ideas, plan activities, or generate content together.
Why is Group Chat being retired?
We are evolving the Copilot experience to focus on streamlined, high-quality interactions. Learnings from Group Chat are being incorporated into broader Copilot improvements.
What happens to Group Chat?
After your account updates, Group Chat functionality will no longer be available. You will no longer be able to start, join, or continue participating in Group Chats. Your existing Group Chats will be migrated as individual chats and will appear as one to one conversations with Copilot.
Will I lose my group chat history or content?
Your own Group Chat messages, prompts, and artifacts will remain available after your account updates. Each Group Chat will appear as an individual, one to one conversation with Copilot.
Messages, prompts, and artifacts from other participants, including images or other media they uploaded, will not be accessible in the migrated chat. Before your account updates, download any media shared by other participants that you want to keep.
Do I need to do anything for Group Chat?
No action is required to retain your own messages, prompts, and artifacts. They will remain available in an individual chat with Copilot.
If you want to keep media or other artifacts shared by participants, download them before your account updates because they will not be accessible in the migrated chat.
When will Group Chat be retired?
Account updates begin on August 18, 2026, and will roll out gradually. The timing may vary by account. Group Chat will no longer be available after your account updates.
What happens to people I invited using a link?
Guests who access a Group Chat through an invite link may see a notice explaining that Group Chat is being retired. After their accounts update, they will no longer be able to access or participate in the Group Chat. Their own messages, prompts, and artifacts may appear in an individual chat with Copilot, while content from other participants will not be accessible.
Mico
Mico, the animated character in Copilot Voice, is moving to Learn Live. Voice in Copilot isn't going away. You'll still be able to talk with Copilot, but Mico won't appear during those conversations after your account updates.
What is Mico?
Mico is an animated character that visually responds during Copilot voice conversations.
Why is Mico being removed from Copilot Voice?
Mico helped us learn about warmth, expressiveness, and how people want to talk with AI. Those learnings are shaping Copilot going forward.
Learn is where the character has the most room to grow, with tutoring sessions that give Mico more to react to and teach through.
What happens to Mico in Copilot Voice?
As Copilot evolves, the animated Mico character will be removed from the voice experience. Voice functionality itself will continue.
Can I still use Mico?
Yes, just in a different place. Mico continues in Learn Live, where the character works as a tutor with real-time animation and voice.
Mico won't appear in Copilot Voice after your account updates.
Will Copilot Voice still work?
Yes. Copilot Voice will continue to allow you to speak with Copilot and receive responses. Some aspects of the experience may evolve as part of ongoing product updates.
What happens to my voice conversations?
Your voice conversations are saved in your Copilot chat history and will migrate with your account as part of the updated experience.
What happens to my Mico settings?
Mico-specific settings, like saved colors and looks, won't carry over. If you have a look you're fond of, take a screenshot before your account updates.
Do I need to do anything for Mico in Copilot Voice?
No action is required. You can continue using Copilot Voice as usual. After your experience updates, the animated Mico character will no longer be part of Copilot Voice, but voice conversations with Copilot will continue.
Some aspects of the experience may evolve over time as part of ongoing product updates, and usage limits may apply.
When will Mico be removed from Copilot Voice?

Copilot Labs is being retired as part of the transition to the updated Copilot experience. When your account updates, Copilot Labs and its experiments will no longer be available in their current form.

What happens to Copilot Labs experiments?
As Copilot evolves, the Labs experience and its experiments will be retired. After your account updates, they will no longer be accessible.
What happens to content I created in Copilot Labs?
Content generated within Labs experiments, such as 3D assets or audio clips, will not carry forward after your update.
If you would like to keep any content, save or download it to your device before your update. Content that is not saved before your update may no longer be available afterward.
Do I need to do anything for Copilot Labs?
No action is required unless you want to retain content created in Labs experiments. If so, save it before your Copilot experience updates.
When will Copilot Labs be retired?

Is there a replacement for Copilot Labs?
